Aftermarket to activate global ZipVit strategy

Largest commercial deal by a British company in the European peloton for 2009…

Following a deal brokered by Cyclevox in 2008, Aftermarket has been appointed as the marketing coordinator for the partnership between brand new pro team Cervelo Test Team and ZipVit, the Midlands-based sports nutrition and supplements brand.

The team is the culmination of months of planning and comprises a mix of youth and experience, climbers and sprinters, one-day specialists and grand tour winners. Sastre, Hushovd, Hammond, Gerrans, Lancaster, the list goes on in the mens team. On the women’s side to have the gold (Kristin Armstrong) and silver (Emma Pooley) medalists from the Olympic time trial on board – the statement of intent and aspirations are clear.

At a time when many companies may be ratcheting back on their marketing expenditure ZipVit has made a bold move into professional cycling with what is the largest commercial advance from a UK company for some considerable time.

The deal will see all riders on the men’s and women’s team using the product and complementing their nutritional programme with ZipVit’s extensive range of supplements.

Additionally a comprehensive marketing plan has been devised including a brand new website, catalogues, individual athlete sponsorship deals in road, tri and MTB disciplines and an extensive ad plan across all media platforms. Activation starts on the 1st of February.

Speaking at the first training camp of the year in Portugal ZipVit MD Warren Bailey said:

The reaction to the product from the riders has been the most pleasing aspect for me. That along with the knowledge that we are allied to one of the world’s best teams makes me very happy. We feel that by operating within pro sport we can develop the ZipVit brand to be recognised as a world class product
